Down with Jakarta, next up Kuala Lumpur

So here I am clearing my emails once again before I pack for my trip to KL tomorrow. Despite the hectic-ness of the Jakarta trip, I managed to sneak in a HEAVENLY spa treatment for myself. The Ritz Carlton Spa is absolutely fantastic and thumbs up for my therapist Tio who managed to soothe away every knots in my muscle. After the spa, my colls commented on the glow that I had! He he!

I also managed to make a trip down to ITC at Kuningan and got away with 5 dresses. Simply love the patchwork and red floral maxi dress i bought. The things there weren't exactly cheap and because at one glance they knew I was a tourist, I knew I had to be prepared to get 'chopped'. But 5 dresses, at 150 SGD, I reckon it is still reasonable. The mall was utterly HUGE, and if not for the fact that my heels were killing my feet and I was going to meet my Indo friend - dickie, for some good food, I would have loved to explore more of the mall.

So caught a show with the fiance yesterday and decided to check out the Zara sale. I ended up with 2 bags (because I couldn't decide which one I like better) and a red satin top. Oh well, there goes my progress package :)

I heard the shopping at Manila is even better, so I better control!

Yes, work got to the better of me, but rest assured that I am still checking out my friends' list blog. I am in the midst of doing my mask, checking my emails and packing my luggage for tomorrow. Going to fly to Jakarta, be back for the weekends, then off to Kuala Lumpur, back for the weekends and then Manila.

Gosh! Just thinking about it tires me out. Sigh.

I can't wait for July, August and September to end soon. Gonna plan for a little me getaway time in October. I am still torn between these places.

- Lombok
- Yogyakarta
- Bangkok
- Perth
- Beijing

BAH!!!!
I was away for the past 5 days on a business trip to Indonesia. Spent 2 days in Jakarta (totally hated the place, horrible traffic jams and polluted air) and thank goodness, the remaining 3 days were spent in Yogyakarta, the old capital of Indonesia. The sleepy javanese town was quaint and people there though poor, were happy. Nobody rushing around to get things done, nobody honking the streets, and no traffic jams.

We managed to take time off to,

go up the mountain to discover a spa nirvana, amidst the lush forests
view beautiful villas to rent
have lunch and dinner in a restaurant nestled in the middle of paddy fields
see one of the decanted volcano in the world - Mt Merapi
soak in endless fields of green and gold
visit the magnificent Candi Mendut and Borobudur

Pictures are up in my facebook :)

I am definitely going back there again soon!

Gosh, it has been quite a while since I wrote here. Work got the better of me! Anyway, finally got the chance to bring the fiance down to Taste Paradise for dinner, my treat no less because of my new job. I was surprised that the manager still remembers me, to top it off, he gave us free desserts on the house and a 10% discount!!

The fiance loves their XO fried carrot cake (Which I have been raving about to him) and their cod fish! Absolutely delish! Oh well, we are going there again this Sunday for his father's birthday luncheon. Made the reservation and got the manager to customize the menu for me. The food is totally going to rock their socks and I still remember the other time, his sister insisted on Majestic Restaurant over Taste Paradise, and the end result was an obscenely expensive dinner,(reads: SGD800+ for 6 persons) and it wasn't even filling! Barf!!

I love my shoes and I am sure alot of ladies out there love theirs too. But what really irks me are these daily observations @ Raffles Place.

Here's to all the ladies who don't give 2 shits about caring for their shoes and let alone know how to walk in killer heels.

1) Horseshoes exist for a good reason

You know that annoying 'kiak kiak' sound that annoys the hell outta you when you are walking, it is an alarm from your shoes, telling you that the horseshoe is totally worn out already! Exposing the screw that holds the horseshoe. I mean, don't you feel disgusted when you look down and see that pile of synthetic mess that was once the horseshoe?

2) People don't need to know how much you paid for your shoes

Don't be lazy, remove that ugly ass price tag from the base of your shoes!

3) Dressed like a diva, walk like a duck

Even with the most gorgeous Marchesa gown and Christian Louboutin Bling Bling shoes, if you walk like a duck, it destroys everything and I really mean everything! Learn to walk properly woman!

4) Slingback straps, tap tap tap

If in the first place, you are not gonna secure the straps on your heels, why bother getting a pair of slingback? Its darn ugly letting the strap hang out loose and touching the ground!

OK, end of rant.

Perhaps its just this angst in me knowing that this CNY is the last time I can collect ang pows!
breaking the tradition

If there is one Chinese New Year tradition that I would like to break it would be - me falling sick on the second day of Chinese New Year

Flashback to last year, after the then boyfriend, now the fiance came over to my place to 'bia nia' we cabbed to his house. the cab trip was horrible and by the time we reached his place, my lunch (reads: bah kwa, pineapple tarts, kueh bangkit, etc) was halfway up my windpipe. So after giving his parents the oranges and getting the ang pows from them, I plonked myself on the bed and felt my stomach churned like hell. I asked him if he had any sng mui in his house because I really don't want to throw up at his place, not during the second day of the Chinese New Year. So after a few nibbles of the sng mui, I felt my lunch retreating back to my tummy, right where it should have been hours ago, so was good. Shortly after, his brother in law came to pick us up to go over to his parent's place for dinner. As the 4 of us (the fiance, me, his mom and his sister) squeezed like sardines at the back seats and coupled with the 'wonderful F1 worthy' driving skills of his brother in law, when I reached his parents place, I couldn't contain my lunch anymore. I asked them where the nearest toilet was and I was showed to the toilet near the pool.

And so I puked, like I never puked before. Now, all was well at this point in time because I was puking in semi darkness as the toilet lights were not on, and might as well because I really didn't want to see what I had puked and furthermore, the bloody flush wasn't working, until I heard his brother in law's voice.

"Ehh, on the lights for her lah, if not she cannot see!"

-End of story.

And I remember correctly, 2 Chinese New Year ago, I also fell sick on the second day, and same routine, reach his place, bai nian, took some panadol because I was running a temperature, and fell asleep on his bed. Woke up, went to watch movie (21 Grams) somemore. After the show ended, it was pouring elephants and lions. Felt even worse, the fiance sent me home in a cab, made some porridge, took medication and went to bed.

So there, hopefully I won't be sick again this Chinese New Year.

so last night, I was talking to the fiance about how it has been a while since we last watched a good film that left a really lasting impression on us. the last being 'The Fountain' and then we went on and talked about 'Requiem for a Dream', 'Mysterious Skin', 'Adams Epler', 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', 'Motorcycle Diaries', 'In the Mood for Love'...

and we talked about the importance of having a good director. for example, Batman Begins had all the potential of turning into a popcorn cheesy flick but Christopher Nolan totally worked his magic and we actually found ourself enjoying it.

and then i thought about what will be my dream film. i think it will be Darren Aronofsky directing Neil Gaiman's Sandman with Clint Mansell scoring the film.

thinking of it is enough to make me have an orgasm/s.

So I came back this morning at around 7 am and slept until now. Gonna take a shower and make me some fried rice.

It was one hellva fun business trip with my aussie boss, and strange as to how fate works, I am gearing up for some potential changes in my job which I believe will only be for the better. I didn't manage to do much in Orlando Florida because the only attraction there is of course Disneyland which I wasn't particularly interested in. But my Aussie boss took me out shopping at the Orlando Premium Outlets and he bought a really cool pair of jeans from A/X and an equally nice looking jacket that cost him like USD40. I bought the same one for my fiance because its a fine looking jacket for that price,

So I went mad shopping at the Orlando Premium outlets because everything was so cheap cheap cheap, and many shoe shops were having this buy the second pair at 50% discount promotion which was a total orgasmic turn on for a shoe fanatic so I dutifully answered the calling and bought,

4 pairs of heels and a pair of ballet flats from Nine West
2 pairs of heels from BCBG Max Azria
1 pair of boots from Liz Claiborne
1 yellow safari dress from BEBE
3 charm keychains and a namecard holder from Coach
1 Armani Exchange jacket
1 Tommy Hilfiger Polo Tee

Which of course translated to overweight charges that I had to pay. At least my Aussie boss kept to his promise of not laughing at my gigantic pink luggage.

Pictures of my haul and the trip later! :)

Malaysia has suspended the recruitment of workers from India amid growing domestic tensions.

An official told Reuters news agency that the ban came into effect two weeks ago and applied to all categories of workers, including professionals.

Indian workers already in Malaysia will not have their work visas renewed, the official said.

Ethnic Indians held a series of protests late last year over alleged social and economic discrimination.

The announcement came on the final day of a visit to Malaysia by Indian Defence Minister AK Antony.

Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said Mr Antony "did not raise the issue of ethnic Indians in Malaysia," reported the French news agency AFP.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7176323.stm

---

This is seriously absurd, childish, and really below the belt.

Lately I have been obsessed with looking at bridal gowns, trying to 'design' my dream gown. Although my actual wedding day is 2 years from now, but doesn't hurt right :)

So today the fiance messaged me to tell me that he is bored, so I showed him the bridal gown website I was browsing thinking he can looksee looksee with me. But that moron messaged me,

"Now you bore me even more!"

Remind me again why did I accept his proposal?!
